Antibiotic-Resistant Genes and Bacteria as Evolving Contaminants of Emerging Concerns (e-CEC): Is It Time to Include Evolution in Risk Assessment?

چکیده
The pressing issue of the abundance antibiotic resistance genes and resistant bacteria in environment (ARGs ARB, respectively) requires procedures for assessing risk to health. chemo-centric environmental assessment models identify hazard(s) a dose–response manner, obtaining exposure, toxicity, risk, impact policy. However, this approach based on ARGs/ARB evaluation from quantitative viewpoint shows high unpredictability because cannot be considered as standard hazardous molecules: ARB duplicate ARGs evolve within biological host. are currently listed Contaminants Emerging Concern (CEC). In light such characteristics, we propose define new category evolving CEC (or e-CEC). ARGs/ARB, like any other determinants (e.g., viruses, bacteria, genes), escape controls. When they do so, just one molecule left remaining at control point can form origin dangerous selection-responsive population. As consequence, perhaps it is time acknowledge trait include evolutionary concepts modern e-CEC. perspective analyze responses most likely influence assessment, speculate means by which current methods could measure evolution. Further work required implement exploit experimental future protocols.

Isolation and phylogenic analysis of emerging new antibiotic resistant bacteria, Acinetobacter lwoffii, associated with mortality in farmed rainbow trout
Whereas it is well documented that the genus Acinetobacter is associated with antibiotic resistant bacteria and human clinical infections, there are very few studies to date that report it as an emerging new pathogen for fish. In the present study, Acinetobacter lwoffii was isolated from diseased rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) from Iranian farms, in the Khuzestan Province by both biochemic...

متن کاملComment on "antibiotic resistance genes as emerging contaminants: studies in northern Colorado".
This study explores antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) as emerging environmental contaminants. The purpose of this study was to investigate the occurrence of ARGs in various environmental compartments in northern Colorado, including Cache La Poudre (Poudre) River sediments, irrigation ditches, dairy lagoons, and the effluents of wastewater recycling and drinking water treatment plants. Addition...
متن کاملCoexistence of antibiotic-producing and antibiotic-sensitive bacteria in biofilms is mediated by resistant bacteria.
Antibiotic-sensitive bacteria have been found to coexist with antibiotic-producing bacteria in biofilms, but little is known about how the former develop in such an environment. Here we isolated pyocyanin-sensitive bacteria belonging to the genus Brevibacillus from a biofilm derived from soil extract and based on the preestablished biofilm of a pyocyanin producer, Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain ...
متن کاملmonitoring and comparison of antibiotic resistant bacteria and their resistance genes in municipal and hospital wastewaters
background: human exposure to antibiotic resistant bacteria (arb) is a public health concern which could occur in a number of ways. wastewaters seem to play an important role in the dissemination of bacteria and antibiotic resistant genes (args) in our environment. the aim of this study was to evaluate the occurrence of three groups of arb and their resistance genes in hospital and municipal wa...
